HIGH-PRIORITY CHECKS

Information that should never be assumed from an old trip

These categories can materially affect a journey and should be rechecked near the date of travel.

01

Hajj authorization

Hajj operates through regulated official arrangements. Do not assume that a tourist or Umrah visa is authorization to perform Hajj.

02

Visa & entry

The official Saudi eVisa portal currently describes a tourist eVisa for eligible nationalities and states that it can cover Umrah but excludes Hajj. Eligibility and conditions must be checked directly.

03

Nusuk & visitor services

Digital pilgrimage services and access arrangements can change. Check Nusuk and Ministry guidance when a booking, permit or visitor service is involved.

Transport operations

Schedules and availability are date-specific. Use current operator information for rail or other important connections rather than an old timetable.

HOW TO READ AN UPDATE

Separate the change from the action

An update is useful only when the traveller understands what to do next. SaudiWelcome's update format therefore focuses on four questions.

  1. What changed? The factual update, without speculation.
  2. When?A visible publication or effective date.
  3. Who is affected?Hajj pilgrims, Umrah visitors, general travellers or a narrower group.
  4. What next? The official page or service where the traveller verifies and acts.
CURRENT ENTRY SNAPSHOT

Tourist eVisa and Umrah are not the same as Hajj authorization

The official Saudi eVisa portal currently says the tourist eVisa is available to eligible nationalities, is valid for tourism-related activities and Umrah, and excludes Hajj. Its terms also state that passport validity and other entry conditions apply.

Because visa eligibility and conditions can change, SaudiWelcome treats this as a current snapshot—not a permanent promise for a future journey.

UPDATE STANDARD

Date it. Scope it. Source it.

No undated “latest” claims. No mixing Hajj permission with ordinary visitor entry. No operational claim without a route back to the responsible authority.

UPDATES FAQ

Using time-sensitive information safely

How recent are SaudiWelcome updates?

Each update should display its own source date. Always use that date rather than assuming every item on the page changed today.

Does an old Hajj rule automatically apply to the next season?

No. Hajj is highly seasonal and regulated. Future pilgrims should verify the rules and authorized arrangements for their own Hajj season.

Can a tourist eVisa be used for Hajj?

The current official eVisa portal explicitly excludes Hajj. Hajj requires the applicable official arrangements and authorization.

Where should I check Umrah visitor services?

Use current Ministry of Hajj and Umrah guidance and Nusuk for relevant official pilgrimage and visitor services.

Why does SaudiWelcome link out to official websites?

Because operational rules can change. SaudiWelcome can explain the context, while the responsible authority provides the final current requirement or service.

What should I recheck just before departure?

Recheck entry requirements, pilgrimage permissions where applicable, important transport bookings and any access or operational information that could affect the journey.
